STORAGE MANAGEMENT

Storage costs and backup times are getting out-of-hand

Email usage continues to grow and the resulting performance drain on primary email systems and the inability of IT to maintain accurate and complete backups is becoming untenable in many organizations. Attachments make up a high percentage of typical email stores. Larger Exchange stores can lead to slower backup and recovery, longer maintenance windows and increased cost. And, with the added complexity of these larger stores, organizations are more prone to risks.

With the Active Archiving Service, you can:

Reduce email data stores by as much as 80%. Provide users with virtually infinite mailboxes, while reducing backup times and email data storage costs. The Active Archiving Service automatically migrates attachments from Exchange to the archive, leaving a stub that allows seamless end-user retrieval directly from the original message.

Gain precise stubbing control. Attachments can be stubbed based on size, age, and type, allowing administrators to remove inactive content from Exchange while preserving it in the archive.

Integrate with Active Directory® to automatically set storage management rules. Rules can be set mailbox-by-mailbox, server-by-server, group-by-group, user-by-user, etc. using information from synchronized with Active Directory.

Seamlessly access stubbed attachments from Outlook®. Stubbed attachments can be seamlessly accessed in Outlook, OWA, or from a wireless device. Users can stub or localize attachments by right-clicking in Outlook.

Improve Exchange performance. The message body is never stubbed, so Exchange performance is never degraded. By removing up to 80% of the content of the primary message store, the Exchange workload is reduced and performance improved.

Lower cost and complexity by using a single data store. Lower cost and complexity by using a single store for archiving, disaster recovery, legal holds, backup, redundancy, and high-availability.
